Acne scar treatment has evolved over the years from acupuncturist from China to now using lasers to treat severe scar conditions.

From a survey created by Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) conducted 4 years ago, about 16 million or roughly 17% of 98 million suffers from acne problems or have suffered.

Get the right treatment for your acne scars and check out this list of cosmetic procedure to improve your skin state.

Subcision

Subcision or in other terms subcutaneous incisions is a minor surgical procedure done in a horizontal axis to cut scars pulled down in your skin.

The sample of acne scars that are best treated with this procedure are tethered, rolling, anchored, and bound down.

The treatment will be performed using a special hypodermic needle which will be inserted horizontally to the punctured skin surface. The procedure will break fibrotic strands which will release new collagen disposition when the wound starts to heal and then improves the state of the scar.

The treatment looks excruciatingly painful, right! No worries my dear friend, the treatment will not commence without proper infiltration of a local anesthesia.

Once this treatment is applied it could be combined to other treatments like the next procedure to be mentioned for better results.

Microneedling

Microneedling or what the celebs call as the vampire facial is a procedure where short very fine needles are puncture into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation, fade scars and improve skin texture.

The needles length varies from 0.5 to 3.0 mm, which in comparison really tiny than traditional needles that size about 32 mm for long needles and 20 mm in short size.

Watch a video by Health about What is Microneedling and witness how the procedure is done:

If you are eager to try out this procedure be sure to know that you are not suffering from the following:
  • Active infection in the skin (impetigo, active and inflamed acne or rosacea)
  • Hypersensitive skin
  • Acute eczema
  • Sunburnt
If you happen to be suffering from one of these conditions, this might not be the right treatment for your condition and could worsen your case so to sure ask a dermatologist about your skin type first.

Another thing, if you aren’t knowledgeable enough with this technique avoid trying out the DIY treatment.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a skin-resurfacing treatment performed by a doctor which enables a patient to achieve smoother and younger looking skin once it grows back.

The procedure will include numbing the skin with anesthesia or take sedative. Once the area is numbed enough, your skin taut will be rolled with a dermabrader, a small motorized device with a rough surface. A circular dermabrader will be used on large patch of skin and a smaller tip for small patches like the corners of the mouth.

If you are suffering from the following better avoid this treatment:

  • Suffers from overgrowth scar tissues (keloids)
  • Suffers from active acne (pus-filled skin condition)
